The Common Data Environment (CDE) in BIMWorkplace is designed to keep all your project documents organized, accessible, and secure – ensuring everyone works with the latest information.
Follow these steps to upload, create folders, and organize your files efficiently.
1 – Access the CDE
- Go to the desired Project in your Workplace.
- Select the CDE module from the “Where am I” menu.
2 – Upload Files
You can upload files in two ways:
- Drag & Drop: Select files from your computer and drop them onto the CDE screen.
- Upload Button: Click the “Upload” button, then choose your files.
You can upload files directly into the root folder (“Project Folder”) or into any subfolder you’ve created.
3 – Create a New Folder
- Click the three dots menu of the rootfolder (“Project Folder”) or existing subfolder
- Select “Add Subfolder”.
- Give the folder the desired name (e.g., Drawings – Structural, Contracts – Suppliers) and click Apply
4 – Organize Your Files
Use the action buttons available in the ribbon to manage your documents:
- Move – Relocate files to a different folder.
- Copy – Duplicate files into another folder.
- Rename – Update file names.
- Delete – Remove files that are no longer needed
- Federate – Send files to Models Management so they can be federated and used in other modules (click here for more information).
5 – Best Practices
- Create subfolders and upload in the right place from the start to reduce time spent moving files later.
