Transmittals provide a controlled and traceable way to share documents from the CDE. They allow you to send selected files to specific recipients while maintaining a record of what was sent, when it was sent, and to whom.
1 – Creating a Transmittal
You can create a transmittal in two ways:
- Directly from Files in the CDE
- Select the files and/or folders you wish to send.
- Click Create Transmittal in the ribbon.
- In the transmittal panel:
- Enter a name for the transmittal.
- Select the recipients
- Choose the visibility setting:
- Recipients can see each other, or
- Recipients can see only themselves
- Review the list of selected files:
- If needed, click Select files to add or remove documents
- Add an optional message
- Select Email me a copy if you want to receive a copy of the transmittal email
- Click Apply to send
- From the Transmittals Page
- Select Transmittals in the left tab
- Click Create Transmittal in the ribbon
- Follow the same steps to fill in all information and finalize the transmittal
2 – Receiving a Transmittal
Recipients will receive an email listing all transmitted documents.
By clicking the sender’s name in the email, they are taken directly to the transmittal page inside BIMWorkplace, where they can view and download the files.
3 – Transmittal Details
In the Transmittals page, you will find a list of all transmittals sent within the project.
Click a transmittal to view its details:
- Shows all files included in the transmittal, along with the exact version sent
- Note: Transmittals preserve the versions at the time of sending. They are not automatically updated if newer versions are uploaded later.
- If a new version exists in the CDE, a warning icon will indicate this.
