The Models Management tab in BIMWorkplace is where project models are uploaded, organized, and activated for use in the federated viewer.
This tab is accessible from both the Explorer and Collaboration modules.
Uploading Models
BIMWorkplace supports four upload methods, allowing flexibility depending on your workflow.
- Upload via Cloud
Models can be uploaded directly through the Upload tab in Models Management. This method is suitable for IFC, Revit, and coordination models uploaded manually through the browser.
Important:
Revit models uploaded directly via the browser do not have their data extracted for use in the Explorer module. Data extraction for Revit models is only available when models are uploaded using the BIMWorkplace Revit Plugin.
- Connect to BIM360 / ACC
- Open the Connect CDE tab
- Log in with your BIM360/ACC account
- Select and import the available models
Important:
Revit models imported via BIM360 / ACC also do not support data extraction for use in the Explorer module. Data extraction is only available for Revit models uploaded using the BIMWorkplace Revit Plugin.
- Upload via Revit Plugin
The BIMWorkplace Revit Plugin allows models to be uploaded directly from Revit and is the only method that enables data extraction from Revit models for use in the Explorer module.
See more about the Revit Plugin here.
- From BIMWorkplace’s CDE
Models already stored in the CDE can be federated directly into Models Management.
This ensures seamless integration between document management and model coordination.
Learn more about CDE uploads here.
Note: Models federated from the CDE appear directly in the Version Management tab (see the next article to continue workflow).
