The BIMWorkplace Revit Plugin allows you to quickly upload models and publish selected 2D and 3D views directly from Revit to the platform.
After connecting your User and Hub (see this article for details), you are ready to publish your model and views
1 – Configure Publish Settings
-
- In Revit, go to the Collaborate tab
- Click Publish Settings
- In the Publish Settings panel, you can:
- Create, duplicate, rename, or delete view sets
- Select Floor Plans, Elevations, Sections, Sheets, and other views to publish
- We recommend creating a dedicated set named BIMWorkplace
- Once all desired views are selected, click Save and Close.
These settings define which views will be sent to BIMWorkplace together with the model.
2 – Upload the Model
-
- Go to the BIMWorkplace tab in Revit
- Click Upload Model
- A pop-up will remind you to configure Publish Settings– click OK to continue
- In the next pop-up, confirm:
- Workplace and Project (ensure they match the correct project in BIMWorkplace)
- Destination folder within BIMWorkplace’s CDE
- Note: Users without a CDE license or permissions will only see the Default folder
- Whether the upload refers to:
- a New Model (Version 01), or
- an Updated Model (Version XX) of an existing model
- Click Apply to start the upload.
Note:
Once the upload finishes in Revit, the model may still appear as loading in the Version Management tab of BIMWorkplace (showing a “Click to load” message, a loading icon, and a red “X”). You will receive an e-mail confirmation once the model is fully processed.
3 – Activate the Model in BIMWorkplace
-
- Open the Models Management tab
- Locate the uploaded model version
- Click Activate Version to make it the current version
(See this article for more details)
4 – Viewing Models and Views
-
- 2D Views:
- In the Viewer, choose a 2D viewing option
- Choose the desired Floor Plan, Section, or Sheet from the dropdown list
- 2D Views:
- 3D Views:
- Open the Filters tab
- Select 3D View Filters
- Choose which 3D view you want to display in the Viewer
With this workflow, your Revit model and selected views become available directly in BIMWorkplace’s Viewer – even for team members without Revit – ensuring smoother collaboration, clearer communication, and centralized access to project information.
