When changes are made to your subscription during an active billing cycle, BIMWorkplace automatically adjusts the value. These adjustments are calculated and available in your cart before payment confirmation.
1 – What is Pro Rata?
Pro rata is the proportional adjustment applied when you upgrade or downgrade your Workplace subscription in the middle of a billing period.
The system calculates:
- The value already used in the current plan
- The remaining time in the billing cycle
- The proportional difference between the previous and new plan.
You are only charged (or credited) for the remaining days of the cycle.
Example:
If you upgrade halfway through your billing period, you will only pay the proportional difference for the remaining days. Your cart automatically calculates this and shows exactly how much needs to be paid before confirmation.
2 – What is Credit Balance?
A Credit Balance occurs when you downgrade to a lower-cost plan after already paying for a higher-cost plan.
In this case:
- The unused portion of your previous payment becomes credit.
- This credit is automatically applied to your next purchase (e.g., additional storage).
- Refunds are not issued. The system offsets the credit against future charges.
Example:
If 20 projects cost $60 and 10 projects cost $50:
- You paid $60 for 20 projects.
- You downgrade halfway through the billing period to 10 projects.
- The unused proportional difference ($10 in this simplified example) becomes your credit balance.
- That $10 will automatically reduce your next charge.
In Summary
- Pro Rata adjusts pricing proportionally when you chang plans mid-cycle.
- Credit Balance represents unused value from a downgrade and is automatically applied to future payments.
Both values are calculated automatically in your cart before finalizing any billing change.
