Flexibility as a rule!

When utilizing Issues within Autodesk Docs, it is essential to employ “cloud models“. Mere uploading of models to Autodesk Docs is insufficient; rather, models must be uploaded to the cloud via the “save to cloud” function in Revit. Failure to do so will result in the inability to create, modify, or access existing issues. Essentially, utilizing Issues from Autodesk Docs necessitates adherence to a stringent workflow, requiring all partners to possess Autodesk Docs licenses to upload models from Revit.

No o BIMWorkplace, users regain their autonomy, enabling them to store models either on their desktop or in Docs. Furthermore, models can be sent to the BIMWorkplace viewer through three methods: a Revit plugin, direct upload via the cloud, or by connecting our app to Autodesk Docs.

Everything is here!

Frustrated with sharing issues via Autodesk Docs, only to find that colleagues struggle to comprehend or locate the problem? This frustration often stems from Autodesk’s limited ability to isolate or conceal elements effectively, or to retain saved viewpoints accurately. Autodesk relies on pinpointing the issue location with a pin, but oftentimes, understanding its precise location proves challenging.

In contrast, o BIMWorkplace offers advanced viewpoints for topics, storing information according to the BuildingSmart standard. Consequently, hidden or isolated elements are preserved, alongside the camera position and defined sections. This ensures that issues are never obscured by other elements, providing a clearer understanding of their location and context.

Handle clashes efficiently

The efficiency of the Autodesk workflow for handling clashes can be somewhat limited and frustrating, especially when considering the inability to save clashes identified outside of Autodesk BIM Collaborate as issues. This restriction, coupled with the lack of integration between clashes and issues within Autodesk workflows, makes it difficult to monitor clash resolution progress effectively.

In contrast, o BIMWorkplace offers a solution to this challenge. Users can continue utilizing Navisworks, a beloved tool among BIM Managers, while also attaching clashes to issues (at BIMworkplace we call it topics) within the BIMWorkplace platform. Furthermore, any changes in status both in Navisworks or BIMWorkplace, from New to Resolved or Approved, can be synced across team members, streamlining the resolution process and enhancing collaboration.
