Creating A Clash Test En | Help

A Clash Test defines the rules used to detect clashes within a Coordination Space.

When creating a Clash Test, you define which elements will be analyzed, the type of clash detection to perform, and the default responsibility and priority applied to new Clash Results.

Before creating a Clash Test, make sure the required models are already available in the selected Coordination Space.

Before you start

Before creating a Clash Test:

Open the Design module and go to Clash Tests.
Select a Coordination Space configured for clashes.
Make sure the Coordination Space contains the models required for the test.

Creating a Clash Test

Click New Rule.
Select the folder where the Clash Test will be stored.
Enter a Name for the test.
Optionally, enter a Description.
Select the Clash Test type.
Configure the selections and settings required for the selected type.
Optionally, select a Default assignee and Default priority.
Save the Clash Test.

The test is added to the selected folder in the current Coordination Space.

Choosing a Clash Test type

BIMWorkplace supports three Clash Test types.

Hard Clash

A Hard Clash detects physical intersections between elements.

It can compare elements from different selections or check for intersections within the same selection.

Use Hard Clash when elements are not allowed to occupy the same physical space.

Soft Clash (Clearance)

A Soft Clash (Clearance) checks required free space around selected elements.

Use it for situations where an element requires a clear area for access, installation, operation, or maintenance.

Duplicates

A Duplicates test identifies duplicate elements within the selected scope.

Use it to find elements that may have been accidentally duplicated or placed in the same location.

Important: The Clash Test type cannot be changed after the test is created.

Defining the element selection

The element selection determines which model elements participate in the Clash Test.

The available models come from the selected Coordination Space, but each Clash Test can further restrict the analysis to specific models or elements.

The required selections depend on the Clash Test type. For example, a Hard Clash may compare two selections, while other Clash Test types use different selection structures.

Setting a default assignee and priority

You can optionally define a Default assignee and Default priority for the Clash Test.

The Default assignee is automatically applied to new Clash Results generated by the test.

The Default priority is automatically applied to new Clash Results. This priority is also retained when a clash is attached to a Topic.

These values provide an initial assignment and priority for the detected clashes. They can be changed later when reviewing individual Clash Results.

Validating the Clash Test

When you create the test, BIMWorkplace validates its configuration.

You may be unable to create the Clash Test if, for example:

A required selection has not been defined.
No folder has been selected.
A selection is incomplete or invalid.
The selected elements exceed the limit allowed for a Clash Test.

If a selection contains too many elements, reduce the scope of the selection or divide the check into multiple Clash Tests.

After creating the Clash Test

After the test has been saved, it appears on the Clash Tests page inside the selected folder.

From there, you can run the test, edit its configuration, duplicate or reorganize it, manage its permissions, and review its results.
