Companies

Use Companies in Workplace Settings to organize users by the organizations they belong to, such as contractors, suppliers, subcontractors, or project partners.

Companies can be used throughout BIMWorkplace to manage permissions, select recipients, and organize collaboration between different organizations.

For example, you can create a company for an electrical subcontractor, assign its users, and manage access to project information through company-level permissions.

Before you start

Make sure that:

  • You have access to Workplace Settings > Companies.
  • You have the required permissions to manage companies in the Workplace.

Creating a company

  1. Open Workplace Settings.
  2. Select Companies.
  3. Click New.
  4. Enter the company Name.
  5. Optionally, add an Image to identify the company.
  6. Enable Active if the company should be available for use.
  7. Click Apply to create the company.

The company will appear in the Companies table.

You can now associate Workplace users with the company.

Managing existing companies

The Companies table displays the companies registered in the Workplace, including their names, images, and active status.

You can edit, deactivate, reactivate, or delete companies according to your needs.

Editing a company

  1. Select the company you want to modify.
  2. Click Edit.
  3. Update the Name, Image, or Active status.
  4. Click Apply to save your changes.

Deactivating or reactivating a company

Use the Active switch in the Companies table or edit panel to change a company's status.

  • Deactivate: The company becomes inactive, and its previously assigned permissions are also deactivated.
  • Reactivate: The company becomes active again, and its previously assigned permissions are automatically restored.

Important: Deactivating a company affects access granted through that company. Reactivating it restores those permissions without requiring you to configure them again.

If a company is temporarily no longer participating in your projects, consider deactivating it instead of deleting it.

Deleting a company

  1. Select one or more companies.
  2. Click Delete.

Important: Deleting a company also removes its previously assigned permissions. Unlike deactivation, deleting a company does not allow those permissions to be restored by reactivating it.

Assigning users to companies

Companies can be associated with users when managing Workplace membership.

When inviting or managing users, you can select the company they belong to.

This helps organize project participants and allows company-level permissions to be used where supported.

For more information about managing users and their company associations, see Workplace Users.

Using companies across BIMWorkplace

Companies can be used in different BIMWorkplace features, depending on the module and available permissions.

For example, you can use companies to:

  • Manage permissions: Grant access to project information through company-level permissions.
  • Select recipients: Include companies when sharing information or selecting recipients in supported workflows.
  • Organize collaboration: Identify users according to the organizations they represent.

Company-level permissions provide a way to manage access for multiple users without configuring each user individually.

Note: The availability of company selection and company-level permissions depends on the functionality being used.
