BIMWorkplace offers two subscription models: Per Project and Per User.
Each model determines how licenses are assigned and how users gain access to a Workplace.
1 – Per Project
In the Per Project model, the company purchases a license for the Workplace, not for individual users.
What this means:
- The Workplace can have unlimited users.
- All modules purchased for the Workplace are available to all users, without additional licensing required.
- There is no individual license assignment; managers do not need to allocate licenses manually.
This model is ideal for organizations with large teams or high external collaboration, since user access does not need to be managed individually.
2 – Per User
In the Per User model, the company purchases a fixed number of individual licenses per module. These licenses must be assigned manually, module by module, to each user who needs access.
Example:
If the Workplace owner purchases:
- 5 Explorer licenses
- 10 Collaboration licenses
- 20 CDE licenses
Then that is the maximum number of active users per module at any given time.
(For example, 20 users may access the CDE simultaneously, but only 5 may access Explorer)
See the next article to learn more about assigning licenses to users.
Additional Notes:
- If a user already has a module license assigned in another Workplace, that user does not need to receive a new license
- BIMWorkplace offers 50% extra Guest users at no cost
- Guests do not consume any licensea and have restricted view-only permissions (check out the Workplace Permissions page for more information)
