Go to Model tool
The Go to Model tool is quite intelligent and practical for day-to-day work.
1. Why It Matters
Image a colleague finds a problem and creates a topic but only attaches a screenshot or an image from a DWG file.
For other project members, locating that exact issue in the model could take a lot of time and effort.
To solve this, the viewpoint works together with the go to model tool:
· A Viewpoint saves the camera position, visible/hidden/isolated elements, and applied filters
· Later, when a user clicks the Go to Model, the viewer automatically navigates to that exact location in the model – showing the problem in its original context.
2. Where You Can Use Go to Model
The Go to model button is available in several areas:
· In the Topic list view
· In the Card view
· Inside an open Topic tab
· In Comments that include a viewpoint image within a topic
· In Clashes (for topics created with Navisworks clash detection)
3. When the Button is Inactive
If the Go to Model button is inactive, it means the associated image was not created from a viewpoint.
Only images captured via the Take a Viewpoint tool contain the necessary model data for navigation, as seen in this article.
4. Best Practices
· Use Viewpoints instead of static images whenever possible
· Reserve static images for cases where the model is not available or when external files need to be referenced.
