Groups
When models are imported into Explorer, the data table is initially organized in a standard hierarchy:
Category – Family – Type, with element counts.
The Group feature allows users to define custom table structures for analysis, quantity takeoff, and data management.
Requirements
To use Groups:
· Models must have extracted data available
o IFC models
o Revit models uploaded via the BIMWorkplace Plugin
· Models must be active in Models Management
If these conditions are not met, grouping is not available.
Creating a Group
1. Open the Group Configuration
· Click Create.
· The configuration panel opens in the right sidebar.
2. Define the Structure
· Enter a group name
· Select properties to group by
· Arrange them to define the hierarchy
3. Choose Table Columns
· Select the columns to display
· Arrange column order.
· For numerical columns, apply calculations:
o Sum
o Average
o Maximum
o Minimum
o Count
· Click Apply to create the group
4. Apply the Group
· In the Manage tab, select the group
· Click Calculate to recalculate the table
The table is updated based on the defined grouping rules.
Managing Groups
Edit
· Click Edit
· Modify settings and apply changes
Delete a Group
· Click Delete Group and confirm.
Note: Groups used in saved views cannot be deleted until those views are removed.
