Import and Export of Edited Properties in Revit

The BIMWorkplace Revit plugin allows bidirectional synchronization of model data. This enables users to export properties from Revit to BIMWorkplace, edit them in Explorer, and import updated values back into Revit. It also allows users to send updated values from Revit to the platform.

This workflow ensures that non-geometric data remains consistent between the platform and the authoring environment.

1.     Prerequisites

Before using import and export:

·        The model must be connected to the correct project through the Hub

·        The model must have data extracted in BIMWorkplace

·        The properties to be edited must be enabled for editing in Property Permissions

2.     Exporting Data in BIMWorkplace

After updating model data in BIMWorkplace:

1.     Create a schedule in Revit with the desired elements and properties to update

2.     Open the BIMWorkplace tab in Revit

3.     Click Import

4.     In the pop-up, ensure that the correct model version and unit system are chosen and click Import

3.     Exporting Data from Revit to BIMWorkplace

To send model data to BIMWorkplace:

1.     Create a schedule in Revit with the desired properties and elements visible

2.     Open the BIMWorkplace tab in Revit

3.     Click Export

4.     Confirm the model version

This will:

·        Send element properties to BIMWorkplace

·        Update the model data available in Explorer

4.     Important Notes

·        Only properties and elements shown in the selected schedule will be updated

·        Geometry is never affected by this purpose

·        Changes overwrite existing values in Revit or in the Platform

This process allows teams to manage large volumes of model data collaboratively, while maintaining synchronization with the authoring model.
